Refund & cancellation

What you get back, and when.

One page, three numbers, no small print. This is the policy the office actually applies, and it forms part of our Terms of Service.

Applies to every online bookingIn effect since

01 / The rule

How much notice you give decides how much comes back

Counted back from the time your appointment was scheduled to start, in the time zone you booked in.

100%More than 48 hours before
Your booking is refunded in full. If you would rather keep the appointment, we will gladly move it to another available time at no charge.
50%24 to 48 hours before
Half of the amount paid is refunded. At that notice the reserved time usually cannot be offered to another client, so the cost of the reserved time is shared between us.
0%Less than 24 hours before
Unfortunately, a refund is not available at this notice. This applies to cancelling or rescheduling, not attending, arriving too late for the appointment to be completed, attending without valid ID or without the document booked for, and any other circumstance within your control.

Every percentage above is calculated on the full amount you were charged at checkout, including HST, the card processing fee, and any add-on such as printing and mail.

02 / Examples

The same rule, on a real calendar

Say your appointment is booked for Thursday at 10:00 AM.

  • You cancel on Monday afternoon

That is more than 48 hours of notice, so the whole amount comes back.

    Full refund
  • You cancel Wednesday at 9:00 AM

That is 25 hours of notice — inside 48 hours but outside 24, so half comes back.

    50% refund
  • You cancel Wednesday at 6:00 PM

That is 16 hours of notice. The time can no longer be offered to another client.

    No refund
  • You do not attend, or arrive without your ID

The notary time was reserved and held for you.

    No refund
  • At the appointment, your document turns out to need a wet-ink original

This is outside your control, so the 24-hour rule does not apply. You may also switch to an in-person appointment instead.

    Full refund

03 / Overrides

Two rules that beat the clock

These apply however close to the appointment we are, including during it.

If we are unable to proceed, you are refunded in full

When the appointment cannot go ahead for a reason outside your control — the notary is unavailable, your document turns out not to be eligible for online notarization in Ontario, or we are otherwise unable to take on the work — you are offered a new time or a full refund, whichever you prefer. This applies no matter how close to the appointment we find out, including during the appointment itself, and it overrides the 24-hour rule.

Missed or incomplete appointments inside 24 hours are not refundable

If the appointment cannot be completed inside the 24-hour window for a reason within your control — not attending, arriving too late for it to be completed, or attending without valid ID or the document booked for — we are unfortunately unable to offer a refund, as the time reserved for you cannot be offered to another client.

04 / Special cases

Bookings that sit outside the table

Two situations have no countdown to measure, so they have their own answer.

  • A mobile visit is paid before the exact date and time are agreed. Until the office confirms that time with you, cancelling is refunded in full — the countdown in the table only starts once you have a confirmed appointment time.
  • Once the notarization has been completed, the fee is not refundable. If anything on the completed document is incorrect on our side, we will correct and re-issue it at no charge.

05 / How to cancel

Telling us, and receiving your refund

The moment your request reaches us is the moment we measure against your appointment.

  • Open the booking in your dashboard and use the cancel or reschedule control, or contact the office by phone or email — whichever reaches us first is the one that counts.
  • Please include the appointment reference if you write in. It is on your confirmation email and starts with MN-.
  • Approved refunds go back to the original payment method and typically land within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer.
  • If you paid at the office rather than online, the refund is returned the same way you paid.

06 / Questions

If you think this policy has been applied wrongly

Please contact us before disputing the charge with your bank — a card dispute takes weeks, and we can usually settle it the same day. If the policy was applied incorrectly, we will correct it.
