This sale is made subject to the following terms and representations:
Seller acknowledges receipt of the above amount as full payment for the Vehicle from the Buyer and title transfer to take place within 5 days from the date of signature herein.
The Buyer acknowledges that if a valid Safety Standards Certificate is not provided by the Seller at the time of sale, the Vehicle is being sold in "as-is" condition. In such a case, the Buyer accepts that the Vehicle has not been inspected by a licensed mechanic and may require repairs at the Buyer’s expense to be fit for use on a highway. If a certificate is provided, it must be issued by a licensed automotive shop and remain valid for the registration process.
Seller certifies to the best of the Seller's knowledge that the odometer reading listed in the vehicle description above reflects the actual mileage of the Vehicle. The Vehicle's odometer was not altered, set back, or disconnected while in the Seller's possession, and the Seller has no knowledge of anyone doing so.
Seller warrants to Buyer that Seller has good and marketable title to said property, full authority to sell and transfer said property, and that said property is sold free of all liens, encumbrances, liabilities, and adverse claims of every nature and description whatsoever.
Seller has no knowledge of any hidden defects in and to the Vehicle, and believes to the best of the Seller's knowledge that the Vehicle being sold is in good operating condition. Said Vehicle is otherwise sold in “as is” condition and where currently located.

A vehicle bill of sale is the written record of a private motor vehicle transaction between a seller and a buyer in Ontario. It captures the identity of both parties, a full description of the vehicle (make, model, year, colour, VIN, odometer reading, engine type), the sale price, and the date the deal closed.
Without a signed bill of sale, the buyer cannot register the vehicle at a ServiceOntario centre. It also serves as proof of the agreed price, which determines the retail sales tax owing at registration.
Ontario requires specific details before ServiceOntario will process the ownership transfer. Our template collects all of the following in one form.
The buyer must register the vehicle at ServiceOntario within six days of the sale date. At registration, the buyer pays 13% retail sales tax (RST) on the purchase price or the Canadian Red Book wholesale value, whichever is greater.
An exemption exists for transfers between immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, grandparent, grandchild). In that case, you will need a completed Sworn Statement for a Family Gift of a Used Motor Vehicle (Form 1157E) instead of paying tax on the wholesale value.
The seller is legally required to provide the buyer with a Used Vehicle Information Package at the time of sale. The UVIP is a document from ServiceOntario that shows the vehicle's registration history, lien status, and condition. It costs $20 and can be ordered online or picked up in person.
ServiceOntario will not process the transfer without a valid UVIP. Both the seller's and buyer's sections of the package must be completed and signed.
A bill of sale does not need to be notarized to be accepted for registration purposes. ServiceOntario accepts an unnotarized document signed by both parties. However, many buyers and sellers choose to have it notarized to create stronger evidence of the agreed price, to confirm identity, and to deter disputes later.
A notarized copy carries more evidentiary weight if the transaction is ever challenged in court or if the CRA questions the declared sale price.
Both the buyer and seller must attend the appointment (or use virtual commissioning under O. Reg. 431/20 if both parties are in Ontario). Have the following ready.
