Online & virtual notary service

Can't come in person? Many affidavits and statutory declarations can be commissioned remotely over a secure video appointment under Ontario law — from wherever you are.
An online or virtual notary appointment lets you have certain documents commissioned over a secure video (audio-visual) connection instead of attending in person. Ontario permits the remote commissioning of affidavits and statutory declarations by audio-visual technology, provided the notary can verify your identity and witness the signing live over video. During the appointment we connect by video, verify your valid government-issued photo ID, administer the oath or affirmation, and witness you sign in real time before completing the jurat and applying our seal. This is convenient for clients who travel, live outside Ottawa, have mobility limitations, or simply prefer not to attend in person. Not every document can be done remotely — certified true copies, for example, require an in-person visit — so book online or call and we will confirm whether your specific document qualifies before your appointment.

Why it matters
Attending a notary in person is not always possible — you may be travelling, living outside Ottawa, caring for family, or have limited mobility. Ontario law now allows many affidavits and statutory declarations to be commissioned remotely by audio-visual technology, so the notary can verify your identity and witness your signature live over video without you leaving home. A remotely commissioned affidavit or declaration carries the same legal weight as one sworn in person, provided the proper process is followed. Because not every organization accepts remotely commissioned documents and not every document type qualifies, it is worth confirming both before you book — which we help you do — so your document is accepted the first time.
Straightforward process. Most appointments completed in minutes once we're face to face.
Book online or call and tell us which document you need. We confirm whether it qualifies to be commissioned remotely before your appointment.
At your scheduled time, join the secure video link from a device with a camera and microphone in a quiet, private space.
Present your valid government-issued photo ID to the camera. The notary verifies your identity live over video.
You swear or affirm the document is true and sign it in real time while the notary witnesses over video.
The notary completes the jurat, signs, and applies the seal, then arranges delivery of your commissioned document.
