Online Notary & Commissioning in Gatineau

Gatineau is across the river from our Ottawa office, and we regularly help Gatineau residents with federal documents — immigration paperwork, passport applications, and other Government of Canada forms — over a secure video appointment.

Please read the section below carefully first: Quebec has its own notarial profession, and there are documents we cannot help you with. If you are unsure, call us before booking and we will tell you honestly.

Minute Notary is an Ontario Notary Public and Commissioner for Taking Affidavits. Quebec has a separate civil-law notarial profession — a notaire — whose role is different and broader than ours. We are not notaires and cannot act as one.

What we can do is commission federal documents. Immigration forms, passport applications, and other Government of Canada paperwork are federal matters, and a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits can administer the oath regardless of which province you are sitting in. This is the work most Gatineau clients come to us for.

What we cannot do is anything governed by Quebec law: real estate transactions, Quebec wills and mandates, marriage contracts, or documents destined for a Quebec court or the Registre foncier. Those require a Quebec notaire or a Quebec commissioner for oaths. If your document falls into that category we will say so rather than take your booking.
