What is a two-parent travel consent letter?
It is a sworn letter in which both parents or guardians confirm that a child may travel, and name the adult who will be responsible for the child during the trip.
Because both people with decision-making responsibility have signed, it is the strongest form of travel consent a family can carry.

When you might need one
Border officers commonly ask for this letter when:
- A child travels abroad with a grandparent, aunt, uncle, or family friend.
- A child travels with a school, sports, or religious group.
- A child travels with only one parent while both hold decision-making responsibility.
- A child travels alone as an unaccompanied minor.

What you'll need to fill it in
Have the following ready:
- Full names, addresses, and contact details for both parents or guardians.
- The child's full name and date of birth as printed on the passport.
- The accompanying adult's full name, relationship, and address.
- Destination, travel dates, and the address where the child will stay.

If the parents are in different places
Online, that does not matter. Both parents join the same video call from wherever they are, each shows ID, and each swears the letter in turn, so one letter carries both parents' sworn signatures. Two signers on one letter is $49.90 plus HST.
If one parent prefers to swear separately, each can swear their own counterpart of the same letter at a separate appointment and the two signed copies travel together. It does not weaken the consent.

- $24.95 per signer plus HST, so a letter sworn by both parents is $49.90 plus HST. There is no extra charge for the second parent joining the call from a different place.
