Notary Public for North York — Online or We Come to You

The provincial courthouse at 47 Sheppard Avenue East hears family and small claims matters, and a family case runs on sworn paper: financial statements, affidavits setting out the facts of a parenting or support dispute, and affidavits of service. Each of these can be commissioned over video under O. Reg. 431/20, with the exhibits marked during the call and a jurat that records the remote commissioning.

North York General Hospital on Leslie Street serves north central Toronto and southern York Region. A hospital stay is often when a patient decides to put a will or a power of attorney in place, and both are signed in person before two qualifying witnesses, where a spouse or an adult child cannot be one. On a mobile visit the notary serves as one witness, a second can come along on request at an additional charge, and the affidavit of execution is sworn before the visit ends.

The North York Civic Centre at 5100 Yonge Street issues marriage licences by appointment, but commissioning is not one of its counters; the City Clerk commissions documents at City Hall only. Most federal paperwork does not need a counter at all: a statutory declaration of common-law union or an invitation letter for a parent visiting from abroad can be commissioned online from Willowdale, Downsview or anywhere else.
